She returned to university, undertook a one-year MSc in Hydrography and, in 2022, Svetlana took on a new role as an Offshore Surveyor at Sulmara.
"I studied Law and Finance as an undergraduate but, after five years in jobs related to my degree, I realised I was unhappy. I needed to change my career path. There’s nothing wrong with finance and audit but it wasn’t for me – and I also wanted more time off so I could visit my family in Latvia.
After completing my MSc in Hydrography at Plymouth University, I landed a job offshore as a Hydrographic Surveyor. I did this for three years before joining Sulmara as an Offshore Surveyor in April 2022.
I guess I’m proof that it’s never too late to make a career change."
